Have you ever stayed at a hotel and wanted a drink but it was late, the bar is closed and you didn't want to pay the hefty room-service charges for a beer or wine?
Metro Hotel on Pitt has provided their guests with the answer - the Smart Bar.
The Smart Bar is effectively a cross between a mini bar fridge and a vending machine which is located in the hotel's lobby and offers a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
The Smart Bar is accessed by an electronic key cut specifically for each guest.
According to the hotel's Senior Duty Manager, Daniel Pearce, "the Smart Bar has been a great hit with guests, especially now in the winter months when it is too cold and wet to go outside just to buy one or two drinks."
"This service is particularly popular with our corporate guests because all the charge they incur from buying drinks through the Smart Bar can be added directly to their room bill so they only have to pay one account at the end of their stay with us." explained Mr Pearce.
And contrary to popular belief, the price of the drinks is about the same as what a guest would pay if they purchased from a nearby hotel or bar.
